ArrivistePress.com
Each month Arriviste Press publishes a collection of feature articles, interviews, reviews, and short fiction. The best way to gauge what to submit to us is by reading the site and its archives. We do not publish poetry. We rarely publish personal essays.

Accepted non-fiction pieces and interviews pay $75 (unless commissioned)
Accepted fiction pieces pay $50
Accepted reviews pay $25.

Send all submissions to editors@arrivistepress.com. Do not send attachments. We try and respond to all submissions, but sometimes this takes time.

Arriviste Press Books
Arriviste Press seeks established writers seeking a publishing outlet for their early attempts at full-length fiction or book-length literary work. Works must display crisp, intelligent writing and should appeal to the Arriviste Press demographic.

You should have a fair degree of professional experience before submitting a book for consideration. We are not a good outlet for first-time writers. We do not offer feedback on manuscripts until we've decided to accept them.

We highly recommend that writers submit what they consider to be publication-ready content. Although we provide first-rate editorial skills, we are a small press with limited manpower. We consider clean copy and well-crafted sentences more favorably than big ideas with little structure.

To submit, e-mail a plot summary and no more than three chapters of the work to editors@arrivistepress.com. Embed your plot summary and sample chapters in the body of your e-mail. Do not send attachments.

Why should authors publish with Arriviste Press? We have national distribution, and we'll give your work unique marketing and promotion and do everything in our power to stimulate sales. If we respect your work enough to select it for publication, it means we respect you enough as a writer to allow you substantial creative control.

Arriviste Press Writing Contests
Once or twice a year, Arriviste Press holds writing contests because they're a great way to solicit new talent and because, well, they're just fun. Check this page for current and/or future writing contests.

Fiction for Journalists Competition, 2005
Because inside every City Desk Editor is a riveting crime thriller just waiting to get out, we've created the Fiction for Journalists Competition. This competition is for short fiction only, and is open to editorial staff and free-lance journalists at recognized print and online newspapers, newsweeklies, magazines, and broadcast outlets.*

Submissions must be short fiction (as stated above) and should be no more than 10,000 words. We've placed no restriction on genre or style; however, we are looking for complete stories -- no outlines or synopses of full-length manuscripts.

As with any comparison of literary art, determining "winners" and "losers" is somewhat subjective. The key criteria for winning entries include, but are not limited to, an engaging plotline, well-developed characters, and clean copy. Decisions of Arriviste judges are final.

First prize is $250 and publication.
Second prize is $100 and publication.
Third prize is $50 and publication.
(Additional entries may be selected for inclusion in a forthcoming fiction anthology to be published by Arriviste Press.)

Send submissions to editors@arrivistepress.com. The deadline for entries is December 2nd, 2005. Winners will be announced on the Arriviste Press Web site some time in January, 2006.

Submitting material to Arriviste Press does not imply a transfer of copyright to Arriviste Press at the time of submission.

* Note this contest is open to professional journalists only. If you are not a staff writer or free-lance writer for a recognized publication (or publications), or if you are not a producer or reporter for a recognized broadcast outlet, you can't enter this contest. Sorry. (Don't worry; we frequently host amateur competitions too...) All contestants should send HTML links or URLs to previously published work or the appropriate publication masthead so we can confirm your credentials.
